![]() ![]() But it's missing a lot that I use regularly which will take my skill level down even from using the CDJ's. I have an XDJ-XZ-N, and some CDJ 2000NXS, but the more I look into the Opus Quad, the more I'm not interested, but it's only got a few additions that I don't have, like zone output - which we don't have any places that need two different zones other than weddings potentially, and an extra USB input, but I rarely use the 2 I have now. Looks like for the first time since the CDJ-1000 Pioneer might be genuinely looking at putting a fork in the road and shaking up some of the conservative design philosophies they've kept for 20-odd years, especially given that the Opus has launched a new Rekordbox database system that's presumably going to start end-of-lifing some of the old CDJ hardware once it turns up on the next generation of CDJs. I'm quite excited to see how Pioneer tackles the next couple of CDJ cycles, to be honest. ![]() I'm personally happy to see memory cues going the way of the dodo and Pioneer implementing a halfway compromise towards using the hot cues as gate cues with the new cue override system. has been playing on 3000s (and just seems to have a set of nexus 1s in his house which he did the Quest For Fire preview mix on), so I think the last of the hold-outs are finally relenting. I saw Skream last year and he used a USB for a throwback dubstep set, and Skrillex lately with Four Tet and Fred Again. I'd rather have just had a page up/down button added). Joystick only for the browse section (which honestly, I'm not a fan of either, it seems like it'll most likely be the first thing to break and when it goes, it'll be expensive and hard to fix and it's a huge paperweight until it is fixed again. I even more prefer Traktor where the shift button then allows you to beatjump with the encoder which is suuuuuper fast and flexible compared to buttons, but Pioneer's just gone to Denon style where it's used for loop only. I actually quite like that - in/out buttons to avoid the twisting that you mentioned, then easily extending or shortening the loop with the encoder. In/Out buttons are just there for if you prefer to set it the old-school way. I wish hitting the Out button again also deactivated it, but that's not how it works on Denons and it also doesn't seem to be the way Pioneer's implementing it. Having just watched Mojaxx's video, it seems like it's just a push encoder, so turn to set length, push to activate loop, push again to deactivate loop.
